IMPRINTS

The photos are about how trauma invades the body, not just mentally, but physically. As Lebanese, we’ve lived through a series of traumatic events, from the Beirut explosion to everything that came before it. These aren’t just memories; they get imprinted in our nervous systems, in our muscles, in the way we move through the world.

What I’ve been trying to explore through this series is the way trauma lingers in the body. It feel as if we’re carrying these small explosions inside of us. Every time there’s a loud sound, or a sudden noise, our bodies react almost instinctively. We flinch, we hide, we brace ourselves. It’s not something we choose; it’s a reflex. I wanted to express visually this tension that lives inside us, this internal chaos that never leaves.
